Madhubani Painting are an indigenous art from a quaint village of Bihar. Madhubani Painting also known as Mithila Painting. Madhubani Painting is a style of Indian painting practiced in the Mithila region of Bihar. Tradition state that this style of painting originated at the time of the Ramayana, when king janak commissioned artists to do painting at the time of marriage of his daughter, Sita to lord Ram. Madhubani art has five distinctive styles, namely, Bharni, Katchni, Tantrik, godna and kohbar. Madhubani Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks etc. Using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterised by eye-catching geometrical patterns.
