The western most state of India, Gujarat has many tourist attractions, sightseeing places and sacred sites to visit. The Sabarmati Ashram has the living remains of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation for people to visit and pay respect. Ahmedabad is the urban centre for producing ancient and modern day fabrics. The Kutch handicraft, is renowned worldwide for it’s elaborately embroidered clothing and luxurious quilts to block-printing, heavy silver jewellery and woodcarving. The distinctive colours and mirror work patterns are used to make wall hangings, bags, bed sheets, dresses, dupattas and are used for various other home decoration items. Another royal product of Gujarat is the Patola Sarees which are double woven Ikat silks known to be very expensive but is rare and one of its kind. The most important thing for which Gujarat is famous for is its culinary treasures. The numerous varieties of pickle, chutney, farsan, gathiya and khakra, thepla, handwo, phaphda and dabeli are just too hard to resist. The famous places to visit in the state are the Gir Forest National Park, Kankaria Lake, Lothal, Calico Museum, Rann of Kutch, White Desert and Somnath Temple.
