Maharashtra

"Maharashtra Mazha" meaning My Maharashtra, is what one would feel or say after being a part of this state. Starting from the capital city Mumbai, which never sleeps and where dreams come true to the city of Oranges i.e. Nagpur for being famous for numerous varieties of orange flavoured sweets exported worldwide and then you have Pune which is the city of youth and home to the great Shivaji Maharaj. Maharashtra is a place full of opportunities, enormous energy, vibrant colours & young vibes. Places like Lonavala, Khandala, Lavasa, Alibaug, Mahabaleshwar, Shirdi, Kolhapur etc. attract tourists from all over the world throughout the year. Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani being known as the hill stations of Maharashtra are the leading producers of strawberries, squash and fruit syrups. The subtle yet stylish footwear and jewellery of Kolhapur is known to be one of its kind. The most epic thing which one would notice here is the distinctive pattern of saree which women wear. The famous sarees which women love to adorn are the Nauvari Silk sarees, Paithani sarees and the Kashtha sarees, all being a crucial part of the state's ethnic wear since ancient times. Ganesh Chaturthi is the most important festival celebrated here for ten days with a lot of zeal, enthusiasm and devotion. Men, women and children come out with dhol- tasha to welcome lord ganesh in their homes. The Maharashtrian cuisine is famous for its special spices and simple techniques. The Kolhapuri masala, Goda masala or Kala masala are basic ingredients in every food item. The lip smacking Wada pav, misal pav, dabeli, Pitla bhakri, poha, chikki, sheera and shrikhand are the quintessential food items of the state.
